Sensitive epidemiological datasets cannot usually be shared outside the host institution.

This prevents collaboration, reproducibility and rapid analysis.

Solution#

FERRY allows researchers to submit analyses to the institution hosting the data.

The analysis is executed locally within a secure environment.

Only approved outputs leave the institution.

Principles#

  • Data remains local.

  • Computation moves to the data.

  • Human oversight is part of the workflow.

  • Every action is auditable.

  • Reproducibility is a first-class goal.

Long-term Vision#

Support federated epidemiological analyses across multiple institutions where:

  • each institution hosts an independent FERRY instance;

  • analyses are submitted to multiple sites;

  • each site executes analyses locally;

  • only approved aggregate outputs are returned.

The platform should become a reusable infrastructure component for secure collaborative research.
